Like most people in the world right now, I’ve got Steve Jobs on the brain, as the world mourns the lose of one of it’s most creative and brilliant minds in history. There’s all sorts of Steve Jobs videos and quotes floating around the internet, but there is one quote in particular that really stood out to me, and I think it applies to plus size women and dating:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” ~ Steve Jobs
Big girls waste so much time worrying about what other people think about them, who others say we can attract and are allowed to date. I’ve read so much commentary about plus size women and dating, most of it negative, and there’s always someone who talks about how plus size women shouldn’t really expect much in a partner, especially in the looks department or how men who are attracted to larger women are the exception and not the rule.
Well, I don’t know every man on the planet, and I most certainly can’t speak for any of them, but I can tell you this, don’t allow yourself to be trapped by the dogma about your size and weight. Free yourself from the boxes and traps other people have set for you as a plus size woman, set yourself free and get out there and live your life. There will be risk involved, you may even hear some harsh words from some ignorant stranger on the street who feels its okay to comment about how fat they think you are, but so what? Don’t let that stop you from living your dream, creating a life you truly want to live and finding the love you desire.
“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition”, what a perfect line. Tune into your heart and your deepest desires so that you can get out there and be who you really are.
Steve Jobs changed the world in only 56 years, but just think about how many lives go by wasted because people where too scared to follow their hearts and live their dreams.
